Can't say I've ever found a metallic taste to the 580 any more than from the cover plates to any other of my harmonicas. In all honesty I've always found wooden combed ones more "earthy" and unpleasant and was quite chuffed to come across the 580 by chance one day. I must admit though I was nervous at the time about the price and the potential life span of the harp but those fears have long since been put to rest.
