Wow! lots of questions, don't know which key is best for Dylan, it would depend on what key most of his songs are in. A "C" harmonica is best for learning on because all learning books and cd's are designed for a "C" harmonica, and the C major scale has no sharps and flats in it to complicate the issue. About Cross harp, A lot of guys ask that question and the answer always seems more complicated than it really is. If you take a C major scale, it goes like this: C D E F G A B C and songs in "C" tend to have these notes in them. Now if you look at a G major scale, it goes like this: G A B C D E F# G and songs in "G" tend to have these notes in them. There is only one note on the G scale that you cant play on a C harmonica (without bending), guess which. So if you play a song in C on a C harmonica and then decide to play it in G on the same harmonica, all you are doing is playing different notes that make the same song sound a few keys lower. Now note bending, That will take hours to explain on the message board, I intend putting some more lessons on the site and I will include note bending when I get to doing it. There should be some instruction in your book as regards note bending. All I am going to say for now is that it is like riding a bicycle, easy when you can do it, not when you cant, as you get the hang of it you will begin to wonder what all the fuss was about.
