Can't believe that Glenn Frey of the Eagles is so gone so soon!!
Yeah George! I'm all !!
I've seen Reed's value and his face just make me want to !!
But hey, now! Thanks for your explanation too!
Howdy George & Meaux_Jeaux!
A) We've always been able to kick it and have great discussions in both the CR and forums! (So let's hope these newbies here really get to check out what great contributions each of you have made to advancing real harp knowledge in your respective views via music. equipment, etc. by visiting/researching the old forum, eh?!)
Admittedly, my ale/bourbon/wine-soaked brain cells can't answer all these sharps, flats and natural harped q's s as best as our local harmonica historian and the greatest friend we/HC ever had, the one and only Professor Dr J_B can! (So let's am hoping to here his replies on these/your supercilious queries that are throwing newbies for a loop already, huh?!)
C) Special to Reed, Gin, Mojo and whomever else you claim to be...LOL!
If I come down yonder and visit you first, Pete, promise you won't give me an all-night tour of Crocodile Alley or the Ocala Swamp lands without a good long spear, survival kit and/or one of your customized harps in my hands to soothe the savage beasts first! Okie-Dokie! Lo!
Howdy Fellow Harpsters:
I can only say as a former client/friend and creator/moderator/administrator of JP Allen's Harmonica.com forum of several years ago -
If you're just starting out on harmonica and can still get the boxed DVDs/CDs of his courses, then it's all worth it! As a test run, I downloaded JP's courses on my laptop at the time. My then laptop crashed and burned; and no, I have not been able to get any lessons back since. Sorry, JP Allen's lessons are really great! But only get them if you can get the hardcopies of them as I have and still maintain now. Just saying....
Keep on harpin'!
Um.no Reverend Petey Pete Pete MoJo!
Let's not confuse the kiddies harpsters more than they all already, huh?! LOL
Am not going to lay out all the keys and positions like Dr/Professor J_B would/will do time and again, but even we both know there are no such things as # sharp harps in harmonica. Yet if you have a Bb and want to play 'cross' harp it's going to be an F; and/or if you have an Eb harp and want to play 'cross' it will be in Bb!
& between you and me: Are you still waiting on that left handed wrench for the right handed Marine Band screws?! Hohner USA has been dragging their feet on it, huh?! Been looking forward to receiving one of your customized Marine Bands for years now. But since our POTUS here is trying to put restrictions on how much carbon dioxide I/you/we can breath anymore...my hopes are growing dim on all those accounts! Just saying, Reverend Petey Pete Pete Mojo!
Howdy All! Sometimes on my way to the Old/New HC Forum(s), life gets in the way! LOL!
For those of us who have been around since the good ol days - going back to the years when we all used to have a blast in the Chat Room (the best CR of any free forum/harmonica site in the world and then some) -- We always credited and gave credit to Seamus with being a genius and visionary of the/our Harmonica Universe as it was and could be!
In that now we have a handful/bunch of newbies and/or sour pussies and/or crybabies and/or more who have no knowledge or history of what the Man created and did for us and Harmonica Universe be instead just want to slam and say the contributions of all those who came before them are unworthy and for naught in our old forums, our old clips, etc. -- Shame on you! Shame on you all!
So you fell off the harp truck yesterday and want to learn now about everything the harp has to offer us is only based on your limited views and opinions since yesterday and nothing before you came along?! Yeah right?!
Most other Harmonica Universe sites will just ignore you with your blather! But here at the HC - according to how Seamus saw to it and set everything up - You're welcome to explore his/our rich history here!
So go back into the Old HC Forums; research the Archives; and yes, we and all of us will be happy to respond to newbies and oldies and more! But please...Don't say or claim that the old HC site/forum etal. was not worth our time or worthless! It was and has never been not!!
Joseph aka Street Player Dude!
Howdy Seamus! (Pronounced 'Shaymus' if ye olde Gaelic is correct! LOL!)
The explanation about the whys and wherefores of the old HC Forum format was/is very much appreciated - Not just by yours truly but am sure by all the fine longtime and newer members for sure!
Knowing the behind-the-scenes of what a nightmare the outdated-antiquated systems were (and as I can personally attest to how much of a gut-wrench it was attempting to go through thousands upon thousands of fake/spambot memberships there were - even since opening day back in October 2007 ) -- I'm most glad you were able to come up with solutions to put an end to all of it finally!
To be honest, this forum and site set up here is quite good and user friendly at that. Even with having to click on a box asking if you are or rather not a bot - Seems to have stopped the bullshit hackers from signing up in their tracks. Perhaps now they'll leave this place and us alone for once and then some, eh?
Before shutting the doors to this new fresh air spambot free place - I think being able to access the old club forum for research and such, even for historical harmonica universe archival purposes, while maintaining/keeping this place open and running are great ideas.
If there was a way to say hyperlink answers/posts to the volley and series of questions that continue to as we all know come up all the time from newbies and such, etc. etc. -- Well then, wouldn't that prevent hackers and bots from ever getting back in here and keep them at bay even over there?! Just wondering....
I'm glad we're moving forward, bro. And I'm definitely with you that we certainly don't want to move backward and open ourselves up again as many members can attest as the past few years have given us. No way, no how, huh?! LOL!
I can feel that this site is a lot more stable and easily workable too.
So I'm hoping you will find a way to have the best of both world where the HC Forum et al. is concerned. One question I do have though is - Since I (and presumably others) had to change some of the information in our sign-up here different from over there -- like passwords, emails and such -- Which then would the older site recognize when we sign in? Even now, just the thought of which passwords and such goes where when - as it was between the Home Pages and the forum - I'm confused all over again! Just saying...
In any event...
Thanks for reading!
Keep up the great HC work!
Keep on harpin'!
Street Player Dude aka Joseph
Here, here, Mister Reed!
Although we many long standing fine members of the old guard HC forum and site were told in advance change is gonna come - Well, I can say without fear of reprisal we just didn't think it'd be this drastic, huh?!
Many nay most all of us found a place of camaraderie and friendship - which has lasted through several years and then some. From Dr Professor J_B to Mojo to PB and others to numerous to mention - We were if nothing else passionate about visiting and catching up with what's what and who's who in the forum and on the Home Page vids.
For me and no doubt many others, the Harmonica Club site itself was one of the best, if not the best of its kind ever done. To simply erase the rich history it provided in all of the e-Harmonica Universe with simply a push of a button and/or a few keystrokes - And/or being able to find a way to integrate it into this new-fangled site building as it were -- All the fine vids, all the great free lessons, all the harmonica and other topics, all the posts and answers, and they're just all poof gone outta here?! Kind of takes the wind out of the harp and sucks the soul right out of ya!
I don't know man, I just don't know.
Please! Don't throw away and/or get rid off all the history and how much fun we all had from the Harmonica Club since its inception many years ago! To throw away any of a decade's or so of work from a genius forecaster as Seamus has shown everyone to be in the Harmonica Universe as a whole - To loose any of the magnificent wonderful videos/lessons/conversations et al. not to mention the sheer input and impact HC over lo these many years had on the global Harmonic Universe as a whole would be! Sure, there are many enough of us here who want/will communicate with newbies. But still, we of course always want to maintain/hold the many deep threads woven and life-time friendships/camaraderie already established through the HC and beyond!
Please! Our greatest beloved treasure and HC harmonica historian who ever graced our pages for all these many years of pleasure and most entertaining information - Dr John_Broeker lives! Please keep his memories and all he contributed alive!
Change and progress may be good in some things. But in HC - one of the greatest places on Earth for many years to be a part of and in - maybe not so much now!, eh?!
Am just saying, huh?!
