In fact, what harmonica to take?
Is it worth taking the expensive favourite and risk losing it or getting it confiscated by a greasy customs officer or take the cheap chinesy harmonica you can pick up for a few pennies from fleebay these days?

No holiday this year, but deffo next year.
It's more a hypothetical question.
I used to work at an airport and know from experience what vindictive power junkie customs officers are like. They'd often brag about upsetting travellers, just because they could..!
I've also become a bit of a "harmonica tart" since I started collecting and for that reason alone I wouldn't want to be seen carrying the wrong one (oh the shame of being seen in public with a zing schwing bloos bruvva..!)
As for the correct key to carry, my head says C, but the chance of a jam says A...
Im not carrying both A and C harps on holiday as two harps would give customs cause to don rubber gloves and carry out a most intimate body cavity search..!

Sounds like the time and place to carry the cheapo beaters. If they get taken, not a real big deal. I've luckily not flown since all the security B.S. at the airports.

In a baggage x-ray, I'm told harmonicas look very similar to pistol ammunition clips. Carry your harp in your pocket and put it on the tray as you go through the scanner.

Brother wallybubs and all,
Take them all...And insure them before you go! Your harps may be covered under you home owners policy. Find out! Why would you limit yourself to one key? Otherwise you'll be spending even more money on harps when you get there.

I've come up with the perfect solution... I'm not going on holiday anymore
I'd love to take my babies on holiday with me, but even with extra insurance I'd be gutted if I lost any of them.
When the time comes I'm going to buy my favourite brand and style in a couple of keys, chuck em in my travel bag and forget em. That way, I won't build an attachment to them the way I have with my other harps.
Unless of course I go to SPAH. In which case I'll bring all my harps and hire an armed guard to protect them

I would go for a C a E and a G and a Bb, these would do wonders on holiday music. I love doing christmas carols on a harmonica, it is very challenging indeed.
