I have no idea the cost of having a chatroom.
I propose we make it a members only site with a membership fee.
Having to pay a fee would deter much riff-raff, members would be able
to immediately censure, dismiss, or penalize offenders as deemed suitable.
By doing so, maybe we can lure back some that have left for whatever reason.
I believe beginners who otherwise may be reluctant to participate may be more inclined
to do so if the fear of ridicule is no longer present. I'm always thinking
We don't need to think about paid membership at this time. When I do get a chat room up we can assign moderators to deal with any rigraf, there is also a drawback with asking for subscriptions in that, a lot of genuinely interested people won't be able to join.
To quote my other post
Money isn't an issue. I consider this web development thing a hobby, and as hobbies go its not an expensive one. Golf on the other hand... So you see Pete, that's how I rationalize the expense.
The old chat room we had was quite expensive at $60 a month for a 20 seat room, but at that time we were taking members subscriptions so it all worked out.
This time I think I might have found a chat room that can buy outright for $50, no recurring fees. I still have to test it.
If bills do start to mount I'll put a donate link, but I don't foresee a need at this time.
I do appreciate your offer all the same, thanks bud
I've installed a chat room at
You will need to register a username as its on a different domain.
Its only a first draft so I may be reinstalling it again later which means you will have to register again later.
Try it out. If there is nobody in there you could leave it open in another browser tab while you do other stuff.
We will be able to set up scheduled meetups when things are up and running.
