An easy way to memorize notes |
Jul-02-05 3:12am Helllllo clubbers... I think what i did was pretty orignal...but who knows...yous guys might have been doing this for a while too...I have a honer harp....and its got maybe stainless steel on the outside plates...I carved the notes above and below each whole....sorta like a cheat sheet...above the whole was a blow out...and a draw in not was carved below.. just a little tip...I mean the harp was 15 bucks so its ok if you carve it for learning purposes...because you'll buy a new one when your through your early learning fase...because you put a lot of wear and tear figuring stuff out... Jul-02-05 4:35am [ re: Gabrielle ]sweetheart, whatever helps your harp playing go for it. There is nothing special about the reedplate covers that you cannot carve on them. ---------------------------------------- BillyRay |

Jul-02-05 5:40pm [ re: bear ]Notes??? What are those??? (J/K) Just to be a pain in the butt, what happens when you change to a harmonica in a different key? Those "notes" you've memorized no longer apply. I get what you're saying, I just like playing devil's advocate. Although I do have to agree with Bear...What's so special about the cover plates that you can't carve on them? You paid for the harmonica, & your the one who'll be playing it. You can do with it what you want. It's an instrument, not a fashion statement (unless you buy the Cross Harp or one of the gold plated varieties). Jul-02-05 5:51pm [ re: Gabrielle ]Sounded like a good idea to this old guy. I would not have the patience to do it though. I probably would have given up. The good guys here at the club kept me trying. Way to go girl. ---------------------------------------- Jim |

Jul-03-05 9:24pm [ re: Gabrielle ]See the reason i carved is because most of the time when i play i'm not near a computer and when i'm jamming with my brother playing guitar i can just be in that room and know what notes i can match up...i won't have a computer to pull up these chart....yessss i could print them out but carving was more fun!!!! thanks for the suggestions boys ---------------------------------------- Gabrielle |

Jul-04-05 8:52am [ re: Gabrielle ]Sweetheart, like ole bear said. If it works for you, go for it. Never mind what others say. Just do your thing. BTW, after awhile you'll remember where the notes are (your ear will tell you) and wont need to carve them onto your harps.
